How to Apply

Applicants must comply with the following requirements and have regard to the Important Notes section below. Failure to do so may mean that your application is declined.

Applications should be made in writing on no more than three sides of A4 via the application form. If your organisation does not have access to email, a hard copy application may be sent to: The Pear Tree Fund for Music, Turcan Connell, Princes Exchange, 1 Earl Grey Street, Edinburgh EH3 9EE. Postal applications should be marked for the attention of the Charity Law Team. When applying, please ensure that you provide us with any charity or organisational number and your full postal address in case we need to contact you by post. If you have any queries regarding your application, please contact Rose Younger of this office.

Your application should identify the detail of the specific project for which you seek funding, the geographical location or spread of the work of the project and the number of years for which funding is sought.

If this is the first time that you have applied to The Pear Tree Fund, the most recent set of accounts for your organisation should also be submitted, preferably by email, along with your application.

All applicants MUST submit with their application a copy of the statement of financial activities (SoFA) page from their annual accounts showing their income, expenditure and total funds carried forward. If you send this material in a separate email from your main application, then please make sure that this is clearly stated so that we can match up your paperwork.

Please do not send additional literature or materials such as DVDs, compact discs, etc, as additional materials will not be passed on to the Trustees.

Important Notes

  • Applicants must let us know if they change their contact details after applying, as we cannot otherwise follow up on your application.
  • The Trustees do not enter into correspondence.

Deadline for Applications

The Trustees meet once a year, usually in October or November, to decide on grants for the following 12 months.

Applications should reach us by email or in hard copy no earlier than 1st June and not later than 31st August. Applications received outside of that timeframe will be declined automatically so please apply in good time if you wish to be considered and do not apply too early. Successful applicants will normally be advised of any award by early December at the latest. The Trustees normally pay grants prior to 31st January in each year.

Please note that, in order to keep administration costs down, applications are not normally acknowledged on receipt. If you don’t hear from us by the end of November, then you should assume that your application has not been successful.
