Kirsty is an Associate within the family law team. She has experience in all areas of family law and has represented clients throughout Scotland. She has practiced family law exclusively for ten years. As a result of her calm approach and firm grasp of the law, she has handled a significant number of difficult and challenging cases. She has represented high net worth individuals in complex divorce actions. She has considerable experience in cases involving separated parents seeking a resolution in relation to contentious child law disputes. She has experience in both the Sheriff Courts and Court of Session. However, she is committed to, and enthusiastic about, resolving disputes away from the court setting. She is a qualified collaborative family lawyer.
Kirsty was previously a member of the Legal Group within the British Association for Adoption and Fostering Scotland (BAAF Scotland). She also served as a member of the Children’s Panel for six years, where she developed a particular interest in child law. Clients appreciate her ability to provide practical and clear advice in relation to all child law issues, including residence and contact, adoption and surrogacy. Kirsty was a member of the Family Law Association’s committee for six years and formerly served as the Association’s secretary. In that capacity, she was involved in promoting legal education and organising family law training.
Kirsty graduated with an LLB (Hons) Degree from the University of Glasgow in 2005 and gained her Diploma in Legal Practice from the Glasgow Graduate School of Law in 2006. She joined Turcan Connell in 2018, after almost ten years practicing exclusively in family law at Brodies LLP.
When not in the office, Kirsty enjoys spending time with her young family.
