Turcan Connell’s Litigation and Family Law Team have recently been bolstered by further Solicitor Advocate appointments, not only in Lindsey Ogilvie, partner in our Edinburgh office, but Noel Ferry, partner in our Glasgow office.

The appointment as Solicitor Advocates extends the Rights of Audience of both Lindsey and Noel, so that not only can they appear in Sheriff Courts, but also have a right to appear in the Higher Courts of the land, namely the Court of Session, Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court. Prior to their appointments, the Firm could only appoint Advocates to appear in those Courts, but these recent appointments extend the range of litigators that the Family Law and Litigation teams can offer clients.

The role of Solicitor Advocate requires a solicitor to have significant litigation experience already before they apply. Thereafter, there is significant training required to become one. Lindsey and Noel were required to sit an extensive course set by the Law Society which involved sitting several exams in ethics, advocacy and civil procedure, as well as mock court exams before existing Court of Session Judges.

These latest appointments show the continued strength and depth of experience within the Family Law Team at Turcan Connell as we continue to serve our clients to the best of our abilities.
