In his article for The Scotsman, 'Non-exec input can help firms survive and then thrive', Joint Senior Partner Douglas Connell discusses the positive role non-executives can have within a law partnership.

"Adapt or die is rather a graphic way of encouraging the legal profession in Scotland to embrace change - especially when there is much evidence, as there always has been, of many progressive law firms grasping new opportunities and introducing innovative ways of delivering their services.

"But the very nature and ethos of a law partnership can be an obstacle to the implementation of a change agenda at any time and perhaps especially when the impact of change directly and adversely affects the personal circumstances of individual partners who are both the managers and shareholders in this particular business model."

Douglas Connell also comments on the state of the legal market in Scotland in another piece in The Scotsman, in which he notes the"significant over-capacity" within the legal profession.
