Colin Shepherd, one of our Tax Managers, has served on one of the committees of the Lothian Members Group of the Scottish Wildlife Trust for a number of years. The Trust manages around 120 reserves throughout Scotland and is also involved in campaigning and high level policy discussions on conservation related issues at governmental level. In recent years it was one of the lead partners in the Beaver Reintroduction Trial in Knapdale in Argyll. The Trust celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2014.

The committee of which Colin is a member arranges a regular series of wildlife related talks held over the winter months, and also several outings throughout the year, all of which are open to the general public. It undertakes fund raising activities for the Trust, helping to subsidise its public engagement and educational work, as well as its general conservation activities. The latest fundraising effort, involving a can collection at the Cameron Toll Shopping Centre in Edinburgh, raised more than £900 over a two day period.
