I work exclusively in family law, advising individuals on issues including financial provision on divorce and separation, cohabitation and child-related matters. I have particular experience in negotiating financial settlements, litigating in the Court of Session and drafting prenuptial and postnuptial agreements. I am dual qualified as a solicitor in Scotland and England & Wales, and am well placed to advise on cross-border and international issues.
To me, being a family lawyer involves much more than applying the law to family disputes. It involves gaining a detailed and personal insight into an individual’s life and providing tailored advice to help them navigate their situation with confidence. I believe strongly in the importance of holistic advice and considering a person’s past, present and future circumstances when assessing the best way forward. I always aim to strike a balance between robustly arguing and defending my client’s position whilst also being pragmatic and mindful of cost. I think clients value my reassuring and empathetic approach.
