Claire McGlynn
Senior Solicitor, Family Law
Claire is a Senior Solicitor in the Turcan Connell Family Law Team. She works closely with Alasdair Loudon and Gillian Crandles.
Claire advises on a full range of Family Law issues including financial provision on divorce, child related matters, Cohabitants’ and Civil Partners’ rights and Pre-Nuptial Agreements.
Claire is predominantly involved in the negotiation and preparation of Separation Agreements. She has recently successfully negotiated settlements in a number of complex divorce cases involving partnerships and other business interests. Claire has also secured a number of favourable settlements in cases where one party has derived an economic advantage as a result of the other party’s contributions to the marriage (financial or otherwise) and in cases where non-matrimonial assets have been transmitted into matrimonial property.
Where the terms of settlement cannot be reached and recourse to the Courts is necessary, Claire also has considerable experience representing clients in the Sheriff Court and in conducting complex Court of Session cases.
Claire graduated from the University of Edinburgh with an LLB (Hons) degree in 2004. After completing her Diploma in Legal Practice at Edinburgh she trained at Turcan Connell before qualifying as a Solicitor in 2007. She was promoted to Senior Solicitor in April 2010.
Claire is a member of the Family Law Association. She also tutors in Family Law at the University of Edinburgh at undergraduate level.
