I work in Family Law, advising clients in relation to financial provision on divorce, dissolution or cessation of cohabitation as well as the drafting of prenuptial, cohabitation, postnuptial and separation agreements. I have experience of representing clients in relation disputes involving child contact, residence and relocation issues (including international relocation or removal). I regularly appear at the Sheriff Court, particularly in relation to child contact and residence disputes, and instruct Counsel as required in Court of Session cases. I have also spent time on the committee of Scottish Women In Business and I am a member of the Lay Advisory Board for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.
One of the most important parts of my job is listening properly - hearing what clients are saying and, sometimes, what they are not saying, then trying to work out exactly what it is they need in terms of legal advice, assistance and guidance. I think clients value the fact that I am honest with them about the reality of their situation, the likelihood of them achieving their goals and, importantly, how their position is likely to be perceived by the courts. I try to be quick in my response times and to take a practical and flexible approach which can be particularly helpful in difficult and often emotional situations.
