Introduction

The Castansa Trust was established under a Deed of Trust in 2008. The key motivations of the Trust are: to provide early stage/catalyst funding, for our contribution to make a difference, to encourage a business approach to philanthropy and to enable action.

Application Criteria

The Castansa Trust makes grants to charities which work in the following fields:

  • Education
  • Children and Teenagers (specifically Leadership Courses and help with Employment)
  • Support for those diagnosed with Cancer or Dementia and for their families
  • Social Inclusion
  • Culture and The Arts
  • Environment

Geographical Spread

The Trustees prefer to fund causes in the Lothians, Glasgow and Dumfries and Galloway.

Size of Award Made

The Trustees make awards of between £5,000 and £15,000 available. Larger grants may be available only in limited circumstances, at the Trustees' discretion. The Trustees will consider multi-year commitments.

Average Success Rates for Applicants

The average success rate for applicants is currently around 1 in 7.

Community Grants

Our smaller community grants are distributed via the Women's Fund for Scotland and Inspiring Scotland. Please do not make applications to The Castansa Trust which are covered in the scope of these funding bodies.
