My main areas of expertise are in winding up complex estates and advising clients on the availability of Inheritance Tax reliefs. I’m a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners Scotland and I get a lot of satisfaction from taking complex legal and tax issues and finding a solution that the client is happy with.

I think it’s important to consider all possible scenarios in any given situation – not just to answer the specific question asked. That can mean raising points the client didn’t realise were relevant. Building strong client relationships is also important. In most cases, I know the client and their family’s background well, having usually acted for them for many years. That means I can properly tailor my advice so it really matches their needs.
