Background

We have a number of exciting opportunities for lawyers to join our Land & Property team. Ideally individuals will be Scottish qualified with a minimum of two years’ post qualification experience. Successful candidates will preferably have experience of general rural conveyancing, but candidates with experience in on-shore renewables, commercial property, development land sales or other fields of property law and having sound practical and commercial knowledge of Scottish property transactions, would be welcomed.

The roles will principally be based in our Edinburgh office, but the Firm supports a hybrid working approach through our Smarter Working policy.

Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be expected to handle a range of rural conveyancing matters, including some or all of the sale, purchase and leasing of farms, estates, forests, fishings, country homes and other rural properties in Scotland and development transactions (such as on-shore renewable energy projects and sales to house builders), and generally provide advice with regard to any conveyancing matters that arise in the course of the management, financing and development of property.

There is scope for the roles to be more focussed on one or more of the areas described above, if a candidate has particular experience or a desire to specialise in a particular field of property work.

In providing advice to clients, you will work with other tax and succession, charity law, family law, employment law and litigation experts to ensure that fully integrated holistic advice is given to our clients.

You will be self-sufficient, commercially aware and able to handle a wide variety of challenging work with minimum supervision.
