I advise on a broad range of issues including tax and estate planning for individuals, charities, trusts and landowners. I am particularly interested in advising farmers and landowners on succession planning and the complex issues that surround modern landed estates including planning to secure and maximise Agricultural Property Relief and Business Property Relief. I also have significant experience in dealing with contentious and complex executries, legal rights claims and will disputes, advising executors on potential claims and disappointed beneficiaries on prospective challenges. I am a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and I am a tutor on the Private Client and Advanced Private Client courses at the University of Edinburgh’s Diploma in Professional Legal Practice.

In our business, it’s important to be adaptable. No two clients are the same. One size does not fit all. A good private client solicitor needs to be flexible to get the best result for each client. I like to listen to each client’s wants, needs and expectations, help them make an informed decision and then make it happen. I try to give good, clear advice so that each client can make an informed decision.
