Neil is a Senior Associate in the Land and Property team and is based in Edinburgh. Neil is qualified in Scots law and has more than 30 years' experience as a commercial property specialist working with clients from Scotland and other parts of the UK. His principal areas of practice involves landlord & tenant, investment property transactions, security work, purchase and sale, commercial property development, planning agreements, option and overage/claw-back agreements, property aspects of corporate transactions, and he has been involved in advising on the real estate, leasing and security aspects of onshore wind energy projects and hydro-electric energy projects, both for developers and funders.
Never afraid to diversify from core activities, Neil has over his career acted in diverse areas such as real estate matters for large landed estates, woodlands property, advised a client who undertook several"low density rural housing and woodland" developments and he has given general advice to Building Societies on real estate security issues and Scottish mortgage documents.
Neil was for some years a Law Society of Scotland Accredited Specialist in Commercial Leasing and is involved with professional training in property law at Edinburgh University.
