Gillian heads up Turcan Connell's Divorce and Family Law Team. She is one of Scotland's leading divorce lawyers and is accredited as a specialist in Family Law by The Law Society of Scotland. According to Chambers UK 2017 she “has a very big reputation and it is well deserved”.

Gillian deals mainly with complex, high-net-worth cases and has extensive experience and expertise in cases involving business valuations, partnership issues and farming cases. She handles disputes involving significant claims being brought by cohabitants against their former partners. She has a particular interest in cases with an international element, including disputes regarding children and in respect of jurisdiction for financial claims. She is dual-qualified as a solicitor in Scotland and in England and Wales, and is increasingly instructed in cases with a cross border element particularly in relation to asset protection and prenuptial and postnuptial agreements.

Gillian is a member of both the Family Law Association in Scotland and Resolution in England – both are organisations committed to a constructive, non-confrontational approach to family law matters.  She has a keen interest in Alternative Dispute Resolution, and is a qualified Collaborative Lawyer, Family Mediator and Arbitrator. She will always try to minimise the emotional fallout which can arise when relationships end, and seeks to resolve disputes without resorting to litigation where possible.  If litigation is required Gillian has a wealth of experience to call upon as required.

Out of the office Gillian enjoys yoga, sailing, skiing and cooking.
