Area of practice

Don Macleod is a Partner in our Land and Property Department, having started with the firm as a trainee solicitor in 2006.  Don has a broad based property practice, assisting a range of private individuals, families, entrepreneurs, investors and family businesses. 

Don’s work is focused on rural property matters, where he acts for a number of significant landed estates and farming businesses throughout Scotland.  This work includes buying and selling rural land, management issues, business planning, leases and commercial diversification of rural properties (including renewable energy projects).  Don also has a particular interest in forestry work and acts for a number of forestry investors (both private wealth and institutional), many of whom are international.  Don also assists our clients (private and family businesses) with commercial property work.

Don is ranked in both Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners.  Legal 500 describe Don as “unflappable and wise”.  In Chambers and Partners, Don is noted as “…very good at what he does” and “has a very non-flustered approach; he is measured and takes it all in his stride…”.
