Alexander Garden is a Partner and Head of Turcan Connell’s Tax and Succession department. He specialises in tax & succession planning for private clients, and charity law. In particular, he advises on issues concerning succession, trusts, taxation (with both UK and international dimensions) and asset protection.
He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, and he is Chair of the CIOT Scottish Taxes Technical Committee as well as sitting on the Succession Taxes sub-committee, having previously been a member of the Council, and Chair of the Scottish Hub Committee. He is also a Member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners, is accredited as a specialist by the Law Society of Scotland in Trust Law and, until recently, sat on the Law Society of Scotland Tax and Private Client Tax Committee
He speaks regularly at specialist conferences, is co-author of tax annual "Trusts and Estates in Scotland" (Bloomsbury Professional), contributes articles to professional journals including Scottish Private Client Law Review and is a former tutor on the Private Client course of the Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Edinburgh.
