As our Managing Partner and head of our Divorce and Family Law team, Gillian brings extensive experience to the firm, which is reflected in her position as one of the pre-eminent practitioners in the field and matched by her tenacity and personal attention. Dealing with complex high-net-worth cases, she has comprehensive expertise in business valuations, partnership issues and farming. Gillian also has a particular interest in and knowledge of cases with an international element, including disputes regarding children and in respect of jurisdiction for financial claims.

With an MA (Hons) Italian and English Literature and LLB University of Edinburgh, her training and experience was honed with renowned firms including Dundas & Wilson, Loudons WS and Turcan Connell (joining in 2001). She is a qualified collaborative solicitor, family mediator, arbitrator and dual-qualified solicitor in Scotland and England and Wales who is regularly instructed in cases with a cross border element particularly in relation to asset protection, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, cohabitation agreements and child cases.

Gillian is a member of the Family Law Association in Scotland and Resolution in England; member and past secretary of Family Law Arbitration Group Scotland (FLAGs); founder member and past secretary of Consensus; fellow of International Academy of Family Lawyers.

She has published various articles on family law, was a contributor to the SIFA Handbook on Working with Matrimonial Lawyers and co-author of Scottish Chapter in ICLG to Family Law 2019. Gillian further shares her expertise at various seminars and conferences to wide-ranging audiences in Scotland, England and Europe.
