Nicola Shields

I re-joined Turcan Connell in 2024, having trained and worked here as a solicitor previously. Throughout my legal career I have specialised in tax and succession planning. Having returned to my home region of Dumfries and Galloway, over ten years ago, I have a specific interest in advising clients from a rural background and take pleasure in advising families on an intergenerational basis.

For me, advising private clients on legal matters is about so much more than the application of the law. My priority is to approach the client and their situation pragmatically and empathetically to ensure any recommendation I make meets their needs, not just from a professional advice perspective but also as a ‘good fit’ for their personal lives. I am very serious about my work but don’t take myself too seriously and I hope that clients appreciate my chatty, friendly demeanour.
