Turcan Connell Promotes Twenty-Seven Professionals Across Legal And Tax Divisions

Turcan Connell announces the promotion of twenty-seven legal and tax professionals, including the promotion of Sarah Jackson to Partner and Heather Burnett and Jillian Bynoth to Legal Directors.
The promotions, which also see the progression of six senior associates, seven associates, eight senior solicitors, one tax manager and two senior tax assistants, follow the Firm’s promotion last year of Alice Warne, Jenny Younger and Simran Panesar-Saggu to partner demonstrating the business’s strong talent pipeline and clear commitment to breaking down barriers and to diversity at leadership level.
New partner Sarah Jackson joined Turcan Connell as a Trainee Solicitor in 2007. Sarah then qualified as a Solicitor and Notary Public in 2009, joining the Tax & Succession Team. Her main areas of expertise are in winding up complex estates and advising clients on the availability of Inheritance Tax reliefs. Sarah is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners Scotland.
Sarah reflected, “I get a lot of satisfaction from taking complex legal and tax issues and finding a solution that the client is happy with. I think it’s important to consider all possible scenarios in any given situation – not just to answer the specific question asked. That can mean raising points the client didn’t realise were relevant.”
Heather Burnett, Legal Director in Turcan Connell’s Land and Property team, specialises in forestry, farms and estates, mainly the purchase and sale of property and other transactional work. Heather also provides advice on title queries and rural property matters for estates and other landowners.
Heather shared, “I know clients value my calm manner and diligent work ethic. While some of the transactional work can be fast-paced and complex, I keep clients informed and their priorities in mind. I aim to offer practical solutions to what can be difficult issues.”
Jillian Bynoth, also a Legal Director in the Firm’s Land and Property team, focuses on all aspects of landlord and tenant work, including telecommunications mast sites and property purchases and sales. Jillian also tackles a broad range of commercial property matters, as well as some residential conveyancing.
Jillian commented, “While it is essential to have a good knowledge of the law, I believe it is important to develop a deep understanding of each client and their business so that the advice and recommendations I provide match their goals for the future. It is rewarding being a trusted advisor but I also enjoy the transactional side – getting deals done efficiently and on time.”
Reflecting on the promotions Chairman Alexander Garden said:
These well-earned promotions, along with our other recent partnership appointments, highlight our dedication to exceptional client service and the development of future talent across our key practice areas, including tax and succession, land and property, business, employment, family and charity and philanthropy. I extend my best wishes to all our colleagues as they step into their new roles.
