Turcan Connell and Standard Life Wealth are delighted to join forces to present a seminar for charity trustees, chief executives, finance officers and others involved in Scottish charities.
Charity law specialists from both firms will present on OSCR’s interim safeguarding guidance along with two pieces of new guidance in the pipeline which will affect charities in Scotland. The first is the draft Scottish Governance Code for the Third Sector and the second is the guidance on investment duties due out for consultation from OSCR. Speakers and topics covered will include:
Gavin McEwan, Partner and Head of Charities is presently the Chair of Live Music Now Scotland and member of the Charity Law Reform Committee of the Law Society of Scotland: he will discuss OSCR’s interim safeguarding guidance against the backdrop of significant and notifiable incidents.
Kenneth Pinkerton, Senior Associate, Charities Legal Team and present Chair of East Park School, Glasgow will present an overview of the draft of the Scottish Governance Code for the Third Sector which, “…sets out the core principles and key elements of good governance for boards of charities, voluntary organisations and social enterprises in Scotland.”
Julie Hutchison, Charities Specialist, Standard Life Wealth. Julie is a former trustee of Youth Scotland and is currently on a part-time Apprenticeship with OSCR supporting the creation of its guidance on investment duties. Julie will address the current governance gap for charities in Scotland in relation to investment policy matters.
Gair Brisbane, Senior Charities Portfolio Manager, Standard Life Wealth and trustee of Officers Association Scotland, will discuss topical ethical screening issues, their practical application in a charity portfolio and how these translate into an investment policy statement.
