Introduction
Nancie Massey Charitable Trust was established in 1989 with the particular aim of supporting organisations with a charitable and social purpose primarily in Edinburgh and the Lothians with a specific focus on children, young people and the elderly.
Application criteria
Charitable purposes: The Nancie Massey Charitable Trust makes grants to charities which work in the following fields:
- The arts
- Health and wellbeing
- Education and lifelong learning
- Reducing isolation
Priority is given to applications supporting people and communities who have or are experiencing difficult or challenging circumstances.
Geographical spread
The work of Nancie Massey Charitable Trust is focused primarily on Edinburgh.
Size of award made
There is no maximum or minimum amount. Applicants should note that a typical grant is up to £5,000, and the Trustees are especially keen to support community-based charities with annual incomes of up to £250,000. Most grants are for one year.

Please note that Nancie Massey Charitable Trust makes grants to charitable bodies only.

Applicants must complete an application form which can be obtained on request (see below).

Deadlines for applications
The Trustees generally meet three times a year, usually in February, June and September. The Trustees sometimes also meet at other times.
Applications should reach us by email by the funding deadline for each Trustee meeting. The deadline for the June 2026 meeting is 16 June 2026; the deadline for the September 2026 meeting is 28 August 2026. Once you apply, your application will be considered at the next available Trustee meeting.
Please note that, in order to keep administration costs down, applications are not normally acknowledged on receipt.
