This Consultation, which is now live on the Scottish Government website follows the recent statement by the First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, that Land Reform would be a legislative priority for the Scottish Government under its vision of"Prosperity, fairness and participation" for Scotland. To that end, she proposed a radical package of Land Reform, including the removal of tax breaks for sporting estates, through a proposed Land Reform Bill.
Accompanying the Consultation Paper, the Scottish Government's website includes further explanation and a quote from the Environment & Land Reform Minister, Aileen Macleod, which you can find here.
There is, inevitably, much febrile discussion and speculation on this subject to be found in the media and elsewhere. Turcan Connell will be actively monitoring the situation as more information and detail becomes available.
For anyone wishing to do so, you can respond to the consultation by visiting the website. If any further information is required, please do not hesitate to contact myself or another member of our Land and Property team.
The consultation ends 25th February 2015.
