Turcan Connell is delighted to announce several significant promotions across the firm, including the appointment of new Partner, Alix Storrie.

Alix began her Turcan Connell career as a Trainee and her appointment highlights the firm's tradition of developing and nurturing talent from within, helping foster long-term relationships with clients.

Paul Macaulay

Paul joined as 2nd year trainee on secondment from McVies in January 2005 and moved to the role of Solicitor in June 2005. Paul was promoted to Senior Solicitor within Alexander Garden's team in April 2008 and to Associate in April 2011. Paul specialises in the areas of trusts, asset protection and succession planning with a particular focus on inheritance tax and capital gains tax planning for individuals and trusts. Paul is STEP qualified and also tutors at Edinburgh University.

Sally Nash

Sally joined Turcan Connell in September 2004 as Solicitor in the Family Law Team. Sally was promoted to Senior Solicitor in 2007 and in April 2009 became an Associate. Sally has particular expertise in dealing with the complexities of high net worth financial provision cases and has considerable experience of conducting cases in the Court of Session. Sally is dual qualified in English and Scots Law.

Chris Sheldon

Chris joined as a trainee in 2003 and became a Solicitor in Simon Mackintosh and Alexander Garden's team in 2005. Chris was promoted to Senior Solicitor in April 2008 and to Associate in 2012. Chris advises on trusts, tax planning and asset protection for individuals and families, and also has a depth of knowledge in the areas of the formation of charities and charity governance. Chris is STEP qualified.

Jennifer Younger

Jenny joined as a trainee in 2003 and qualified as a Solicitor in October 2005 in Ian Clark's team. Jenny was promoted to Senior Solicitor in April 2008 and promoted to Associate in April 2011. Jenny works principally in the areas of trusts, asset protection, and succession planning, with a particular emphasis on capital taxation and estate planning issues. Jenny is a Notary Public and STEP qualified.

Elizabeth Bremner

Elizabeth joined as a trainee in 2003 and qualified as a Solicitor in October 2005 in David Ogilvy's Employment team. Elizabeth was promoted to Senior Solicitor in April 2008. Elizabeth advises clients on all aspects of employment law; both contentious and non-contentious. Elizabeth is a Notary Public and is dual qualified in English and Scots Law.

Laura Hair

Laura joined in October 2005 as trainee, qualifying as a Solicitor in October 2007 in Ian Clark's team. Laura was promoted to Senior Solicitor in April 2012. Laura specialises in the areas of trusts, asset protection, and succession planning. Laura has a particular interest in advising farmers and land owners on tax and estate planning. Laura is currently undertaking her STEP qualification.

Don Macleod

Don joined in October 2006 as a trainee and became a Solicitor in October 2008 in Adam Gillingham's team. Don was promoted to Senior Solicitor in April 2012. Don has a wide range of experience in rural property matters including the sale and purchase of farms and estates, forestry matters, renewable energy schemes, crofting, securities, access issues and development sites.

Lynn Richmond

Lynn joined in October 2003 as a trainee, moving to the role of Solicitor in October 2005 in Alasdair Loudon's team. Lynn was promoted to Senior Solicitor in April 2008 in David Ogilvy's team. Lynn handles a variety of contentious and non-contentious matters and has conducted a number of cases in the Sheriff Court and Court of Session. Lynn also holds the Certificate in Intellectual Property Law and also the Certificate in Advanced Litigation Dispute Resolution. Lynn is Signet Accredited in Commercial Litigation.

Heather Walker

Heather joined as a trainee in October 2005 and became a Solicitor in Jon Robertson's team in October 2007. Heather was promoted to Senior Solicitor in April 2010. Heather has experience in a wide range of contentious and non contentious agricultural law matters principally in connection with agricultural holdings and crofting legislation. Heather holds the Core Certificate of Competence in Mediation Skills.

Graeme Gass

Graeme joined as trainee in October 2008, becoming a Solicitor in October 2010 in Ian Clark's team. Graeme has a particular interest in capital taxation issues affecting landed estates and rural businesses involving trusts, partnerships and corporate structures.

Mark McKeown

Mark joined as trainee in October 2008 and qualified as a Solicitor in October 2010 in Simon Mackintosh's team. Mark advises on trust law and asset protection, wills and succession planning, as well as on Living Wills and Powers of Attorney. Mark is currently undertaking his STEP qualification.

Victoria Thomson

Vicky joined as trainee in October 2008 and became a Solicitor in October 2010 in Adam Gillingham's team. Vicky has experience in a broad range of rural property matters including the sale and purchase of farms and estates, forestry matters, securities, servitudes, access and planning issues.

Katherine Whiteford

Katy joined as trainee in October 2008, qualifying as a Solicitor in October 2010 in Alexander Garden's team. Katy advises on lifetime and post death tax planning, will drafting and trust and executry administration. Katy is currently undertaking her STEP qualification.
