We are delighted that the chosen charity for year three of our Charity of the Year programme is Down’s Syndrome Scotland.
What does Down's Syndrome Scotland do?
Down’s Syndrome Scotland works to improve the quality of life for everyone in Scotland with Down’s syndrome and their families, especially helping people realise their full potential.
Turcan Connell are aiming to raise £15,000 for DSS. This would fund 25 children through DSS’s Achieving Better Communications (ABC) programme. Children with Down's Syndrome can have difficulty with communication and their speech is often significantly delayed. Securing a place on DSS’s ABC programme can make a huge difference to how a child fits in at school and benefits from their education as well as helping them develop friendships and lead a happy life.
How much have we raised so far?
We have got off to a good start with Team Turcan Connell’s marathon festival efforts in which runners took part in the 5K, 10K, half marathon, marathon relay and full marathon over the course of a May weekend, running a total of 356 miles! Thanks to fantastic fundraising efforts, the team raised £3,000!
This brings fundraising efforts for our Charity of the Year 2018/19 to £3,425.60 with nine months to go!
