Year 2 of our Charity of the Year programme has been a great success. Our relationship with CCLASP – Children with Cancer & Leukaemia Advice & Support for Parents – kicked off with a very warm introduction to the charity and its great work with a presentation from one of its founders, Valerie Simpson. Since then, we have undertaken a number of fundraising events which have raised valuable funds for CCLASP but also inspired some staff members to take on a challenge, and encouraged us to come up with different fundraising ideas.
The first significant tranche of funds came from 14 runners who took part in the half marathon, 10k and 5k. All their training and effort raised £2,000 and our now annual Hockey Tournament raised a very healthy £7,000!
This year we introduced a new staff social event to boost our fundraising total – the TC Burns’ Supper. Attendees were treated to an excellent performance by our colleagues Rebecca Cumming and Lauren McDonach addressing the haggis, laughed until they cried at Niall Stringer’s Toast to the Lassies and enjoyed Simon Mackintosh’s thought provoking Grace. The lovely 3 course meal was flanked by a game of Heads and Tails and a raffle which raised £500, and the night continued with a ceilidh which had everyone on their feet.
The COTY year ended with our final Dress Down Day and Bake Sale on 29th March which brought our grand total just over £14,000!
