On Friday 9th September, we hosted our first NextGen Skills Programme, an event aimed at providing practical skills to those who may ultimately become responsible, or have just become responsible for their family business.
The programme covered a wide range of topics from business law to family law, employment, succession and tax. The programme for the day is shown below:-
Being Streetwise in Business Life: Business Structuring, Contracts, Banking issues
Litigation and Employment Strategies
A case study presented by Michael Longstaffe, CEO of Smith Anderson, a Fife based family business established in 1859
What Can Go Wrong? Death, Divorce and Tax
Philanthropy and Corporate Social Responsibility
Simon Mackintosh, Chairman
The event was a success, with Partner and Head of Business Law, Mike Kane, commenting: “We are delighted how well the event has been received by the attendees. We have provided insightful and informative skills which can be put into practice when taking over the family business."
