The Scottish Government's Consultation Paper on a new tenancy regime for the private rented sector ("PRS") can be found here.
Responses should be returned to the Scottish Government no later than 28th December 2014. If you have any concerns regarding the proposals you should respond to the Consultation.
The main proposal is to change the type of tenancy which landlords will offer to tenants. Currently most landlords in the PRS offer a Short Assured Tenancy in terms of which, if a landlord follows the correct procedures, they will be entitled to regain possession of the property at the end of the contractual period of let. It is proposed that this"no fault ground" for repossession of a property is removed with landlords having to rely on one of various grounds listed in the Consultation.
