Scottish Natural Heritage have been requested by the Scottish Government to provide further advice on the proposed Wild Land Map and have issued a Public Consultation.
It will be recalled that the new Wild Land Map of Scotland, which potentially covers 20% of Scotland's land mass, is part of a major consultation on the part of the Scottish Government into new planning proposals. If it were to be adopted, the intention is that what are arguably Scotland's finest wild landscapes will be protected for generations to come.
All parties having an interest in this matter are encouraged to respond to three questions set out in the SNH Consultation Paper. Responses must be made by Friday 20th December 2013.
More information on wild land can be found on environmental organisations, such as John Muir Trust, websites.
