I am nearing the end of my final seat as a Trainee Solicitor at Turcan Connell and can't quite believe how quickly the past two years have gone by! I was initially attracted to Turcan Connell because I was interested in working with individuals (rather than large companies) and was keen to get the most varied traineeship possible.
I completed legal seats in Family Law, Tax and Trust and Property. Of these seats I particularly enjoyed Family Law and had excellent client contact from the offset. In Tax and Trust and Property, I found the legal drafting experience particularly beneficial. I thoroughly enjoyed all three seats which were each very different learning experiences. The atmosphere in the office is friendly and there's always someone around to give you some help when you need it.
For my fourth seat I spent 6 months in the firm's wealth management arm, Tcam. During this seat Trainees are given the opportunity to complete the IMC (Investment Management Certificate) Qualification. I completed the first exam last month and will sit the second part next week. I also attended client meetings, met with fund managers and learned an incredible amount about Investment Management. For me, the possibility of completing a seat in TCAM, either in Investments or in Financial Planning, is what really sets the Turcan Connell Traineeship experience apart.
Good luck with your search!
