Employers should be interested in this guidance from ACAS on what they are entitled to do if an employee's explanation for not coming to work is that they were snowed in.

Care needs to be taken, before withholding payment of wages, to ensure that the employee does not have a contractual entitlement to receive wages. There is an argument where an employee is salaried and hours are flexible that payment should be made.
