Our residential property purchase budget calculator sets out the levels of property acquisition tax (whether Stamp Duty Land Tax or Land and Buildings Transaction Tax) and registration dues payable to the Land Register of Scotland which are the main outlays that a buyer will incur when purchasing a residential property in Scotland.
If your prospective purchase is to take place after the 1st April 2015, Land and Buildings Transaction Tax (LBTT) will be payable rather than Stamp Duty (SDLT).
Residential Property Purchase Budget Calculator
The calculator below will set out the amount of tax and registration dues payable on your proposed residential property purchase depending on the date of that purchase.
In the wake of the Chancellor's Autumn Statement on the 3rd December 2014, we have updated our calculator to include the change in Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT). From the 4th December 2014 until the 1st April 2015, the UK wide changes to SDLT announced by the Chancellor will be applicable in Scotland until the introduction of LBTT. Furthermore, following the announcement by John Swinney on Wednesday 21st January 2015, our calculator has been updated to take in to account the rates for residential properties under LBTT.
This calculation is intended as a brief overview of some of the costs of purchasing a residential property in Scotland. No responsibility can be taken for any action reliant on this calculation and specialist advice should be sought in every case.
