Introduction

The Kintore Charitable Trust was established under a Deed of Trust by the late 12th Earl of Kintore in 1984. The Trustees favour community causes in the counties of Aberdeenshire and Kincardineshire. They also consider causes involving young people, the relief of poverty or the environment in those counties. The Trustees consider a small number of applications each year in aid of medical health charities.

Application criteria

Charitable purposes: The Kintore Charitable Trust makes grants to charities which work in the following fields:-

  • The advancement of citizenship or community development – the Trustees consider applications from community groups, working for the benefit of their local area and for the people who reside there. Charities which assist the elderly, promote opportunities for young people or conserve the environment are given particular consideration.
  • The advancement of the arts, culture and heritage – the Trustees occasionally make a small number of grants available for arts projects.
  • The advancement of health – the Trustees consider a limited number of grants in the advancement of health (including medical research) in any one year.
  • Please note that the Trustees only entertain applications falling outside these categories in exceptional circumstances.

Geographical spread:

The Trustees prefer causes in the Grampian region of Scotland, with particular focus on the counties of Aberdeenshire and Kincardineshire.

Size of award made:

The Trustees typically make awards of between £500 and £1,000 available. Larger grants are available only in exceptional circumstances, at the Trustees' discretion.

Restrictions:

Please note that The Kintore Charitable Trust normally makes grants to charitable bodies only. Applications by individuals will seldom be considered. Unsolicited applications for gap year funding are not entertained. The Trustees give priority to small, local charities operating in Aberdeenshire and Kincardineshire. Larger Scottish or UK charities have limited chances of success.
