Ian Riach

I started my legal career in commercial property work and have specialised in renewable energy projects for nearly 20 years focusing on windfarm development. I also deal with battery storage, solar, hydro, wave and energy from waste projects. I was a member of the Scottish Renewables working group on onshore wind and have worked on over 100 wind power transactions.

My work includes lease option agreements, access agreements, cable servitudes, interface agreements, noise protection agreements, radar mitigation agreements, purchase options, phasing agreements, grid connection facilitation arrangements, planning agreements, extension documentation, exclusivity agreements, title diligence and securities.

I act for various clients ranging from large renewables developer companies to individual landowners and funders. Clients appreciate my technical expertise allied with sound commercial awareness and practical experience. Having grown up on a family farm in north east Scotland, I understand what is important to rural landowners. This helps bring balance and perspective to my dealings on renewables projects.
