Turcan Connell
Turcan Connell is a partnership of Scottish Solicitors regulated by the Law Society of Scotland with its registered office at Princes Exchange, 1 Earl Grey Street, Edinburgh EH3 9EE. A list of the Partners of Turcan Connell is open to inspection at its registered office. Turcan Connell is licensed by the Law Society of Scotland for incidental financial business.
Anti-money laundering
Turcan Connell is fully committed to fulfilling its obligations under the The Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations 2017, the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 and other relevant legislation for the purposes of combatting money laundering and terrorist financing. This means that we carry out client verification checks at client take on and subsequently and we seek to establish, where appropriate, the source of wealth and source of funds. We maintain procedures and policies relevant to this legislation and operate processes, both electronic and paper based, to ensure compliance with the relevant legislation. Turcan Connell staff are trained in how to comply with the legislation and we may refuse to act if we have concerns.
Anti-tax evasion
Turcan Connell has in place policies to ensure that it fosters and maintains a culture of compliance with the Criminal Finances Act 2017. We adhere to the principles set out in Guidance set out by HMRC. In accordance with those principles we have adopted a zero tolerance approach towards the criminal facilitation of tax evasion. Our preventative measure and procedures have been approved by the whole partnership and endorsed by it.
Data protection regulation
The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which took effect in May 2018, was introduced to harmonise data protection practices throughout the EU, particularly focusing on the areas of transparency, compliance and enforcement. This regulation was implemented in the UK by the Data Protection Act 2018
Turcan Connell is committed to high standards of information security, privacy and transparency. We assessed the new regulations when they were introduced and continue to keep regulations, guidance and industry best practice under review.
We are registered as a data controller with the Information Commissioner.
Confidentiality
We shall not disclose any information given by our clients to us which is not in the public domain, except as required by law, as a result of the registration of any document in any register, with our client's authority or where necessary to provide services to our client. We are bound by professional obligations in relation to confidential information.
Data Protection
We undertake to keep the information we hold within Turcan Connell confidential other than: (a) where the sharing of information between Turcan Connell and third parties is considered by us as appropriate and/or ancillary for the purpose of providing out client with the service; (b) where we are legally compelled to disclose information; (c) where there is a duty to the public to disclose; (d) where our interests require disclosure; (e) where the disclosure is made at your request or with your consent; or (f) to bring to your attention products or services of Turcan Connell which we believe may be of interest to our clients.

Pricing transparency
Turcan Connell is committed to ensuring transparency on the fees we charge, and the work we will undertake for these fees. We primarily charge on an hourly rate basis; however, other pricing options are available. For example, where we can be reasonably certain of the time and expertise to be involved in providing the required service to you, we may agree with you a quote, or a fixed or capped fee arrangement.
As every service we provide is tailored to your specific needs, we will have an initial discussion with you, and fully understand your circumstances, before proposing a suitable approach on our fees.
Prior to commencing our work for you we will issue a Letter of Engagement confirming the scope of work and any assumptions and exclusions, along with the rates to be charged. Wherever possible, we will include a pricing arrangement.
In addition to our fees, we may charge for outlays paid out by the Firm on your behalf to other companies, offices, organisations. We will keep you informed throughout the relationship, of the outlays essential to the service we are providing.

Our hourly rates are dependent on the seniority of the people carrying out the work, who will be identified in our Letter of Engagement.
Privacy policy
Turcan Connell is committed to protecting the privacy of users of this website. We will not sell, trade or rent your personal information to others unless you have given us your permission to do so. With your permission we will only share the information with carefully chosen, reputable and trustworthy third parties.
