We have an opportunity for a lawyer (Solicitor/Senior Solicitor/Associate) to join our Land & Property Team on a fixed term basis for 12 months. This individual will be either qualified in England & Wales or alternatively, dual qualified (Scotland, England & Wales) with a minimum of 3 years’ post qualification experience in English and Welsh law.

The successful candidate will be an experienced conveyancer (including residential conveyancing) having sound practical and commercial knowledge of English and Welsh property transactions.

The role will principally be based in our Edinburgh office, but the Firm supports a hybrid working approach through our Smarter Working policy. We are also open to either part-time or full-time candidates.


The successful candidate will be expected to handle a broad range of conveyancing matters, including the sale, purchase and leasing of urban and rural properties in England and Wales and generally providing advice with regard to any conveyancing matters that arise in the course of the management of English and Welsh property. The urban property work will include residential conveyancing, ranging from properties of a modest value to high value properties in London and other large cities. For dual qualified candidates, a similar range of work would be expected relative to Scots law property work.

You will be self-sufficient, commercially aware and able to handle a wide variety of challenging work with minimum supervision.

In providing advice to clients, you will work with other tax and succession, charity law, family law, employment law and litigation experts to ensure that fully integrated holistic advice is given to our clients.

Skills / Qualifications

To be successful, you will be a strong team player with sound practical property law experience (ideally having practised in England and Wales) and enthusiasm to develop your technical skills and legal career in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
