Alison advises on all aspects of family law. She specialises in advocacy in the Sheriff Court with an emphasis on issues of financial provision and disputes relating to children.
Alison takes a sympathetic and pragmatic approach to resolving child-related and complex financial issues arising from the establishment or breakdown of relationships. She has wide experience of achieving such resolution through negotiation and litigation. She practises in the Court of Session and the Sheriff Court, where she appears regularly, and has particular expertise in cases involving parental responsibilities and rights, including questions of residence and contact.
Alison graduated with an LLB (Hons) from the University of Aberdeen before completing the Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Edinburgh. She trained with Turcan Connell and joined the firm’s family law team in 2003.
She is a tutor in family law at the University of Edinburgh and a member of the Family Law Association.
