Gillian Crandles

Gillian is accredited as an expert in Family Law by the Law Society of Scotland and she specialises in cases involving business valuations.  She has practised exclusively in Family Law for the past ten years having joined Turcan Connell from Loudons WS, a specialist family law practice. Gillian became a Partner with Turcan Connell in 2010.

Gillian deals mainly with complex, high net worth cases (often high profile) in the Court of Session, covering such issues as the valuations of shares in private companies; employee incentive schemes and share options; taxation; and the interaction between Partnership Law and Family Law.

She also deals with disputes involving children including child abduction and other cases with an international element.

Gillian is recognised not only as a talented lawyer in a technical sense but as an adviser with an ability to put clients at ease, especially when they are facing difficult decisions.

Gillian has an MA (Hons) in English Literature and Italian from the University of Edinburgh.  She graduated in law in 1998, also from the University of Edinburgh. 

Gillian has been instrumental in introducing Collaborative Law, an innovative form of dispute resolution, to Scotland and is a founder member and immediate past Secretary of the Scottish Collaborative Family Law Group.

The Chambers UK Guide notes that Gillian is held “in high regard” for the work she has undertaken to introduce Collaborative Law to Scotland as well as her high net worth and child dispute cases, and recognised her as “operating at partner level” while still an Associate.
