Philippa Cunniff

Philippa is a Partner in the Family Law Team at Turcan Connell. As a dual-qualified lawyer, she is qualified to practise in England and Wales as well as Scotland. Philippa is accredited as a specialist in Family Law by the Law Society of Scotland and is a trained collaborative lawyer.

Philippa specialises in Family Law and deals with a wide range of issues arising from the breakdown of relationships. She has particular expertise in complex jurisdictional issues and in the resolution of the financial issues which arise in the context of separation and divorce, including corporate and commercial matters. Philippa has been involved in numerous cases involving the valuation of business interests, particularly partnerships and shareholdings in private limited companies, and works closely with forensic accountants and other advisers in such situations.

She has extensive experience in the successful resolution of issues arising from relationship breakdown, both by way of negotiation and litigation. Clients appreciate Philippa's ability to balance expert knowledge and expertise with absolute discretion, efficiency and accessibility.

Philippa deals regularly with cases with an international dimension and has worked with fellow lawyers in jurisdictions around the world, from the United States to Australia and South Africa, as well as various European countries.

She is experienced in wealth protection issues and regularly acts in the negotiation and preparation of Pre-Nuptial and Post-Nuptial Agreements, many of which have cross-border or international dimension. Philippa regularly presents seminars on issues relating to asset protection and financial provision on divorce and has written articles for various legal publications.

Philippa is a member of the Family Law Association in Scotland and also of Resolution (formerly the Solicitors’ Family Law Association in England). She is the Convener of the Law Society of Scotland Practising Certificate Committee. She is recommended in Chambers UK Guide to the legal profession, who comment that she is "praised for her calm demeanour and academic ability".

Philippa graduated from Aberdeen University in 1997 with an LLB (Hons) and Diploma in Legal Practice. She trained at Loudons WS remaining there after qualifying. In 2001, Philippa joined Turcan Connell where she was assumed as a Partner in April 2006.
