Donald was appointed a Senior Associate in April 2008 having joined Turcan Connell in 1998. He advises on asset protection and tax planning for individuals, trusts and family businesses. This includes the use of onshore and offshore trusts for individuals and in commercial contexts, and tax planning for succession to, and sales of, family businesses.

His specialist areas include the use of capital allowances as income tax shelters, and share options, employee benefit trusts and directors' remuneration trusts as tax-efficient methods to reward employees and directors.

Donald also advises on the use of companies limited by guarantee as structures for charities, community amateur sports clubs, trade bodies and member associations in Scotland.

Donald graduated in mathematics from the University of Edinburgh and then read law at Glasgow University. He is a regular speaker at tax planning conferences and writes for professional journals.
