Kenneth specialises principally in the fields of charity law, tax and estate planning for private clients, trusts and executries. He also has significant experience of the Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2000 and advises on powers of attorney and Guardianship matters. He is a member of Turcan Connell’s specialist Charities Legal Team.
Kenneth’s experience of charity law is extensive, covering the entire spectrum of advice to charities both large and small from operating to grant-giving. He has advised on establishment, reorganisation and general legal matters relating to charities, the impact of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and also has experience of amending both Royal Charters and Statutes of charities through the Privy Council Office.
Kenneth studied law at the University of Dundee where he also completed his Diploma in Legal Practice. He qualified as a solicitor in 1993 and worked for two medium-sized chamber practices in Aberdeen as a general practitioner, experience which, particularly in relation to property matters, has been invaluable as his career has since become more specialised. Kenneth joined Turcan Connell in 2001 and was appointed a Senior Associate in April 2008.
Outside the law Kenneth’s main interests lie with music and theatre. He is a Non-Executive Director of both the National Youth Choir of Scotland and the Edinburgh Music Theatre Company Limited with whom he also performs.
