Robert specialises in land law and tax and financial planning, acting for a number of proprietors of large landed estates, and other individuals and families.
He is particularly interested in matters affecting rural property, including land reform issues, and deals with all aspects of agricultural and estate work, including the purchase and sale of land and estates, agricultural tenancies and farming partnerships, and all types of development and use of land.
Robert also acts in connection with a number of maintenance fund trusts established for the support of historic houses. He is a former Convenor of the Scottish Landowners' Federation Law & Parliamentary Committee, and a member of the Scottish Rural Property & Business Association Taxation Committee.
Chambers UK Guide says that Robert “always gives the impression he is on top of the subject and is thought highly capable by peers”.
He is accredited as a specialist in Agricultural Law by the Law Society of Scotland. Robert Turcan studied at Trinity College, Oxford and Edinburgh University, becoming a partner in Dundas & Wilson in 1974.
Together with Douglas Connell, he led the 1997 de-merger that created Turcan Connell.
