Turcan Connell retains top status in newest Legal 500 listings

We are very pleased that we have retained our sole Band 1 rankings for both Personal Tax, Trusts & Executries and Agricultural & Estates and a shared Band 1 status for our Family Law practice. In addition, we are delighted to have achieved sole Band 1 status for Charity Law, having shared this rating with other firms in previous years.

The Charity Team at Turcan Connell which acts for over 300 charities, both grant-giving and grant-receiving, was recognised for its “excellent quality of advice” and Charity Partner Simon Mackintosh was singled out for his “efficiency, integrity, wise counsel and general good practice”.

Our Agriculture & Estates practice was described as the “undisputed market leader” in Scotland with clients stating that the team “shows initiative and performs well under pressure”.

The Family Law team was recognised as dealing “primarily with high-net-worth divorce cases, and [acting] in the Court of Session on occasions when an out-of-court settlement cannot be reached”. Alasdair Loudon was acknowledged for his “strong reputation in financial settlement negotiations”.

And finally, the new Legal 500 listings describe our Tax & Trust team as having an “unrivalled strength in depth; with 50 fee-earners dedicated solely to trusts and tax work, including seven accredited specialists and 13 STEP members”. At the helm is the “legendary” Douglas Connell whose team “acts for 10,000 private clients, administering 2,500 trusts, handling 11,000 wills [and managing] funds under discretionary management [of] £550m”. Mention is also given of our growing office in Guernsey, led by Alison Mackrill.
