Record-breaking cyclist Mark Beaumont visits Turcan Connell

Mark Beaumont, the man who ‘cycled the world’ paid a visit to Turcan Connell last week ahead of the firm’s own cycling efforts in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care during the summer. The inspirational Scot regaled guests with stories from his epic cycle around the globe which saw him cover over 18,000 miles in just under 195 days, making him the new Guinness world record holder.

Mark entertained guests with fascinating insights into the places he visited and the cultures he experienced. He also offered valuable advice and tips to Turcan Connell’s Bike the Baltic team who were also among the guests.  Covering 2200km over four weeks, the trip will take the cyclists across Eastern Europe, a leg of which Mark himself undertook during his training for the world record attempt. Mark’s mother Una, who supported him throughout his six month trip, was also on hand to offer advice to those who will be supporting the cyclists.

The firm is pedalling ever-closer to our £100k fundraising target and reached £90k on the day of Mark’s visit to Turcan Connell.  Mark’s 18,000 mile cycle also raised money for a number of important causes including Community Action Nepal, Edinburgh Cyrenians, CHICKS, Tusk Trust and Rainer.
