"The last time Scotland's leading law firms jumped into bed with firms of accountants, the liaisons turned out to be dangereuses. Back in 1997, Dundas & Wilson entered an alliance with accounting giant Arthur Andersen and McGrigors did a deal with KMPG a few years later. To the embarrassment of the law firms concerned, the first alliance ended because of the implosion of Andersen, while the second unravelled when post-Enron regulatory changes undermined its very raison d'etre."
