Investment Managers Rewarded for Performance
22 March 2007
Two investment managers at private client firm Turcan Connell have been promoted, reflecting the continuing strong growth of the firm’s private client investment management business. James Osborne and Judy Good have both been promoted to Senior Investment Manager.
James Osborne is responsible for the firm’s AIM Portfolio Service, which has grown by an average of £1 million per month in the last year. Although they are primarily an investment vehicle, companies listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) have been popular with investors looking for a balance between investing in a dynamic market and securing the inheritance and capital gains tax breaks that AIM can offer.
Judy Good is responsible for Japanese fund research and is also a specialist on ethical and socially responsible investing, an area that has seen healthy returns in recent years. Because screening tends to exclude oil, banking and other multinational companies, ethical funds are skewed towards medium-sized companies, which can offer better growth potential. Since the launch of the first ethical fund in 1984, the market has grown and there are now over 100 funds investing in this area.
