9 March 2007Turcan Connell sets sights on international families
Turcan Connell has expanded its international trust practice as part of its strategy to better serve its growing international client base. The firm’s International Trust Services division in Guernsey has recruited additional staff, bringing the total in the office to seven, and has taken over additional office space in the building it occupies.
The move follows the recruitment last year of Alison MacKrill as Managing Director of the firm’s Guernsey office. Alison is a senior figure in the field of international finance law. She is a member of The Law Society of England and Wales, the International Bar Association (IBA), the Union Internationale des Avocats and is currently Chairman of the Guernsey branch of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). She is currently involved with various STEP International Committee initiatives.
Turcan Connell is one of the UK’s largest private client firms. It acts for 10,000 individuals and manages 2,500 trusts. Its Guernsey office provides international trust services, primarily to families that hold assets in more than one country.
Douglas Connell, Joint Senior Partner said: “There is an increasingly international dimension to private client work. The younger members of families often spend time working, studying and living abroad, which can bring unintended consequences in terms of tax and estate planning.”
