Turcan Connell retains top ranking in Chambers UK listings for 2010

Turcan Connell is delighted to announce that the firm retains top billing across our core practice areas in this year’s edition of Chambers UK. The firm is described in the 2010 edition of the authoritative, independent rankings as “a clear market leader” in private client work and as continuing to “set the benchmark to which others aspire” for work in the charity sector. Our land and property practice is recognised as offering “considerable breadth and depth of expertise” with “six dedicated partners in this practice area” while the family law team's “numerical advantage and range of expertise” is seen as “[setting] it apart from its competitors”.

Individuals are also singled out for praise including Joint Senior Partners Douglas Connell as having “built a superb reputation for the firm” and Robert Turcan as “specialising in tax and financial planning for major estates and farming families”.

Partner and Head of the Land and Property team Jon Robertson is recognised for his “commendable expertise in property matters, encompassing agricultural subsidies, forestry, aquaculture and conservation” and in the same practice area, Senior Associate and litigator Lewis Kermack is acknowledged as “a dominant practitioner in the Scottish Land Court”.

Charities Partner Simon Mackintosh is dubbed a “leading light” who has helped to “propel the firm into the highest echelons of the market” and whose practice area has “attracted some of the largest charities in Scotland including grant-giving The MacRobert Trust and the Lloyds TSB Foundation”. Simon works closely with Partner Alexander Garden “whose profile continues to grow”.

Chambers UK calls Partner Alasdair Loudon “a leading light in the Scottish family law arena” with “particular strength in negotiating settlements and producing practical and creative solutions for clients”.

Turcan Connell’s high rankings in Chambers UK echo the rankings bestowed on the firm earlier this year by Legal 500.
