Turcan Connell reaches a new level

14 August 2006 Turcan Connell reaches a new level

Turcan Connell has increased its presence in Edinburgh’s financial district by taking over another floor in Princes Exchange. In addition to the two floors it already occupies in the building, the private client firm has moved into the area vacated by Ledingham Chalmers.

The additional floor provides an extra 30% of office space. It accommodates 70 people, and the remaining area has been used for an in-house library, a club room for staff and a meeting room for clients who cannot take the elevator to the firm’s fifth-floor reception.

The in-house law library is an important resource. Audrey Walker, who recently joined Turcan Connell from the Signet Library, has already developed the firm’s reference collection and now has plans for a staff reading and research area.

To create a more pleasant work environment, the firm has provided a club room where staff can meet in an informal setting or eat a sandwich away from their desks. There are also several stand-alone internet terminals where they can log-on to their own hotmail accounts.

The move is the third major expansion in Turcan Connell’s nine-year history. When it was established, the firm occupied the first floor suite of Saltire Court – an area similar in size to the one it has just acquired. Four years later it moved to the newly opened Princes Exchange, becoming one of the first professional services firms in Edinburgh to move to the city’s financial district.

Douglas Connell, Joint Senior Partner, said: “On both previous occasions people asked why we could possibly need so much space. Our most recent expansion allows us to securely grow in Edinburgh over the next few years. We have some of the best offices available to any professional services firm in the city.”
